These illustrations are part of the awarness-campaign „NOT OUR CROWN“. The campaign aims to enforce the discussion on the restitution of the „Corona de Moctezuma“, an aztec feather crown, that’s exhibited in the Weltmuseum in Vienna. For decades this crown is demanded back by the native mexican people. It’s a dispute between Austria and Mexico, as no similiar original piece remains in Mexico.
The campaigns concept is to show the absurdity of the crown remaining in Austria. Images of stereotypical austrian culture clash with aztec heritage.
